Didn't know this address would be such a busy corner. I may not stay here but could not resist some plants that would be the start of creating some privacy. The plants seem happy (in pots just for now) . I was told I would have to cut them back to 4" for them to be thick as they grow but I am not because Greenthumbs says they prune before shipping. They are about a yard long; thanks for sending such tall ones since I need height quickly. Very happy with them (only 2 or 3 days here). And, again, the
privets seem very healthy and happy !
Honestly, I thought the first batch I bought were dead when they arrived. They spent way too much time in USPS trucks in getting all the way across the country to my house in Washington state... and the heat got to them. 90 percent of the leaves had fallen off the bushes by the time the box was delivered to me. Basically, I received bareroot sticks. I suppose some people would have just thrown them in the trash, but I placed them in a bucket of water for 24 hours and then planted them the next day. I kept the soil very moist for the first couple of weeks. Lo and behold, after about a month, new growth started appearing on almost all of the hedges. I think I ordered twenty in my initial order, and all but two of them got new growth and thrived. So, I ordered ten more.
The second batch of ten must have had a quicker trip across country. They arrived in much better shape. Again, I soaked them in a bucket of water for 24 hours and then planted them and kept the soil moist. It looks like they'll be fine.
This is a very inexpensive way to put in a long hedge. I happened to see some Privet Hedge plants at my local home improvement store the other day and they wanted $10 for one plant. That would be an expensive way to create a hedge. I'm pleased with my inexpensive Privet Hedge from Green Thumbs Garden.
My bear route shrubs arrived quickly and in perfect condition nice and moist got them in the ground they look great looking forward to ordering some more next year to add to my shrubs
My order came in and was perfect! The bare root canes were much larger than we expected and the root stock was still moist. Great pruct, great service!
I got an email on March 9th that my order was sent out. It arrived late on March 15th. Not a leaf left on any of the plants, just a lot dried curled leaves in the box. I had to wait until the next day to plant them since it was dark out. I soaked the roots in water and got them all in before noon today. I am hoping for the best. The plants varied greatly in size, some much larger than I expected, others much smaller.
