Hill's Privet Hedge 1-3'
We planted our Hedges due to needing privacy in our backyard. The saplings are currently growing new sprouts and that makes me happy. I will do another review as time goes on but very happy with the hedges I received.
Within a day of planting these hedges they put out new leaves. I understand they were busy and under staffed so it took a while to receive my hedges, but it was worth the wait! Highly recommend.
They came dead looking will see what they will do. Last shipment 3 of the plants died.
This variety has exceeded my expectations. In exactly 2 years, they have grown from literal twigs wrapped in newspaper, to thick bushes with some approaching almost 6 feet in height to provide extra privacy from the neighbors. I did not expect this here in northern Utah (zone 6). They are indeed semi deciduous and keep many of their leaves on stem throughout winter, so they keep providing cover. I water them 2x weekly in the summer with drip irrigation and fertilize with generic slow release granular fertilizer in early spring. A couple plants did exhibit minor signs of chlorosis last year (i have alkaline clay soil for the most part), and i applied liquid chelated iron a few months ago. They are now all dark green and growing like monsters. I have not seen any flowers or berries on them at all yet, unlike my cheyenne privet. Wondering if they are some kind of fruitless hybrid.
Good service so far ! Too early to tell as the hedges were only planted a couple of days ago.
