Burbank Plum Tree

Product Description
The Burbank Plum (Prunus salicina ‘Burbank’) is a deciduous tree (also known as a Japanese Plum) that is a favorite of commercial growers because it produces more fruit than the average plum tree. Burbank is upright with a wide spreading canopy. Branches fork a bit, leaves are bright green, flowers appear in early spring, they are white and small, yet fragrant.  Fruiting begins in 2-4 years. The skin of the plums is red-purple with a yellow blush, and the amber flesh is firm, juicy, and sweet. The fruit ripens in July to August. It is best when picked before fully ripe. Plums require minimal pruning which should be done after flowering when the tree is still leafless.
Growth Rate: Medium rate, with height increases of 13–24" per year.
